According to a memo from Steve Jobs today, Apple is planning on providing an SDK to developers in February, paving the way for officially supported third party applications on the iPhone and iPod Touch.

The message from Steve appeared earlier today under the "Hot News" section on Apple's website and reads:

"Let me just say it: We want native third party applications on the iPhone, and we plan to have an SDK in developers
