According to a report from GearLive, Apple has seeded iPhone 2.1 Firmware (Beta 1, Build 5F90) to developers along with a new SDK, although the new SDK cannot be used for submitting applications to the App Store.
The site reports that the software contains Core Location features that track the direction your are heading and the speed you are travelling. From what they are seeing, the surmise that a turn-by-turn GPS app could be headed to the iPhone 3G. Earlier this month, TeleNav promised a route guidance app.
