Apple has licensed the ActiveSync protocol from Microsoft to build directly into the iPhone, so that it can work directly with corporate exchange servers. Microsoft has worked with ActiveSync to create a more reliable, more affordable and direct way for the iPhone to interact with the Exchange server. iPhone 2.0 software is expected to be released in June of 2008. Apple is currently accepting applications for the iPhone Enterprise Beta program.
