Over the past few days, you've most likely seen quite a few unboxing videos. After 9 arduous hours at the local Apple Store in Long Island, NY, we present our unboxing of the iPhone 3G in black and white.

iDay 2 Experience

Lines for iDay 2 were similar to the launch of the original iPhone, but the required activation process had lines moving at a snails pace due to iTunes activations combined with AT&T activation server issues. Once entering the store, customers had a specific Apple Store employee who would assist with selecting a plan and the actual purchase of the iPhone. Earlier in the day, customers would then meet with a second employee who would then assist with connecting and activating the iPhone through iTunes. During my experience, a single employee guided me through the entire process. Since the iPhone needs to be opened, employees were instructed to let the customer be "the first to hold the iPhone". About 7:45 EST, iTunes servers were still having problems. The process of purchasing two iPhones and activating them took roughly 20-25 minutes, however it required a wait of 9 hours. Upon hearing of the wait the wait times, the particular employee who assisted me quipped that he had already worked his first shift, met his girlfriend in Central Park for lunch and returned back for his second shift. On a positive note, I was lucky enough to meet a few nice folks who were getting their first iPhone and remained positive despite spending the better part of the day in a steamy delivery corridor. Both AT&T and Apple need to revisit this process prior to the launch of the next iPhone.

You can read about other iDay 2 experiences in our iPhone 3G forums.
