Taiwanese manufacturer Hon Hai has secured a contract from Apple for 12 million mobile handsets that further confirm the impending release of the iPhone.

Taiwanese manufacturer Hon Hai has secured a contract from Apple for 12 million mobile handsets that further confirm the impending release of the iPhone.

This report comes from Forbes magazine by way of Taiwan newspaper the Commercial Times. It goes on to say that, "Apple will launch the mobile handsets in the first half of next year". Hon Hai will also build the new MacBook's due out next month.

Update:CNN is reporting that Foxxcon Electronics will handle the manufacturing of the iPhone and the first half of 2007 is a possible target for release.
