Apple Showtime Event Will Not Reveal iPhone
Apple has scheduled one of their much heralded special events for September 12th, where they are expected to reveal the ability to download movies from the iTunes Store.

An invitation was sent out to a select members of the media. The invite shows the Apple logo with strobe lights crossing it and the words "It's Showtime". The announcements will take place at 10:00am Pacific time at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in downtown San Francisco. It's expected that Apple will start offering movie downloads through their popular iTunes store.
This could also mark the introduction of new iPods. The new iPods could feature touch screen and offer widescreen format to support the 16x9 format of feature films. Although it's possible they could introduce the iPhone, it's not likely due to the theme of the invite. Furthermore, the official launch of the iPhone will probably command a larger stage. A possible venue for release could be MacWorld 2007.
