Apple Orders 3 Million 3G iPhones

According to a report from the Commercial Times, Foxconn Electronics has received orders for the assembly of the second generation iPhone.

Foxconn is currently the only manufacturer of the current shipping iPhone. The second generation iPhone with support for 3G has been widely rumored for a June release. Shipments are reportedly slated for June with numbers expected to top 3 million. According to the report, during the product life-cycle, Apple expects to ship of total of 24-25 million units.

The Commercial Times listed their sources as "foreign institutional investors in Taipei".
