According to AppleInsider, Apple is circulating an internal iPhone 3G Frequently Asked Questions document to help aid sales personnel that are undoubtedly getting bombarded with questions regarding the July 11th release. The memo does little in the way of actually answering the questions, but rather provides staffers with appropriate answers. We've paraphrased the questions, so that it's easier to find out the information you need for the July 11th release. Of course, look for more information from Apple and AT&T as we get closer to the release. Unfortunately for most, a number of questions surrounding the release are still left unanswered. Can you place an iPhone 3G on hold? Answer: You may not place iPhone 3G on hold for anyone. No exceptions. Do not create a waitlist. It is critical that all stores follow the same process to ensure every customer has an equal and fair opportunity to purchase a phone. Will Personal Shopping Sessions apply to the iPhone 3G? Answer: Call any customer who has reserved an iPhone Personal Shopping session on or after July 11th and inform them that Personal Shopping sessions won't apply to the iPhone 3G. I just bought a first generation iPhone. Will I be able to upgrade to an iPhone 3G at a discounted price or exchange it for an iPhone 3G? Answer: We don’t have any information regarding upgrades. Why should I buy an iPod touch, when I can get "more bang for the buck" buying an iPhone 3G? Answer: iPhone 3G is offered at such a terrific price because, like most cell phones, it requires a 2-year carrier contract. Are you going to change the iPod touch pricing now that you lowered the cost of iPhone? Answer: Not that I am aware of... I it true that iPhone 3G activation will have to take place in the store? How about buying one without in-store activation? Answer: I don’t have any details at this time about activation. Are there any one-time fees associated with moving from a first-generation iPhone to an iPhone 3G? Answer: You will need to sign a new two-year contract at the point of purchase, but "may want to check with AT&T regarding any fees. via AppleInsider
