Apple Increasing iPhone 3G Production

August 4, 2008

Apple has advised Foxconn to increase production of the iPhone 3G to 800,000 units per week. If this pace continues throughout the year, that would translate to 40 million units in 2008. According to the source, the number is "above current capacity" causing some reason for concern over quality control.

Apple has advised Foxconn to increase production of the iPhone 3G to 800,000 units per week. If this pace continues throughout the year, that would translate to 40 million units in 2008. According to the source, the number is "above current capacity" causing some reason for concern over quality control.

This bump up in production could be a temporary response to post-launch demand which is still at a very high level. More countries expected to announced iPhone 3G availability and the holiday season will see more units sold.
