With a lackluster CES concluded, Apple CEO Steve Jobs is set to take the stage at the Moscone Center in San Francisco tomorrow at 9:00 PST (12:00 EST). There has been widespread speculation about possible product announcements. Just last week, Apple announced updates the MacPro desktop, fueling the fire that Apple has bigger announcements planned for tomorrow's keynote. The most prevalent rumor is a possible new lightweight MacBook, dubbed the MacBook Air. There have also been reports of iTunes movie rentals, improvements to AppleTV and possibly an announcement regarding Apple's committment to BluRay technology.
The Steve Jobs keynotes have historically generated an incredible amount of excitement among the Mac faithful. Last year, the event sent shockwaves through the smartphone world with the announcement of the iPhone. Many have speculated that on the one year anniversary of the iPhone announcement, Jobs may use MacWorld to announce a new 3G model or perhaps a 16GB iPhone. With the iPhone SDK set for a February release, software development for the iPhone should be a primary topic, as many iPhone owners eagerly await the release of officially sanctioned third party applications. Apple could also announce the release of iPhone firmware version 1.1.3.
There is no stage bigger than MacWorld and you can expect there to certainly be buzzworthy announcements tomorrow. Stay tuned for complete coverage. Join our forums and take part in the discussion surrounding MacWorld.
