Typically, we find ourselves reporting on Apple declining an application for entry into the App Store. Today we simply find humor in the fact Mariolife (App Store link) somehow received approval. According to Daring Fireball, the App Store team does not deal with copyright and trademark issues when reviewing an app for entry. Huh? Again perhaps we hoped they would deal with common sense.

It certainly surprises us whenever Apple gets a chance not to get involved in copyright and or trademark issues. In case you're wondering, the animated impostor dons the familiar Mario garb and his task is to collect gold coins. While we understand the policy, it's also clear that common sense doesn't weigh into App Store approvals either. Somewhere a lawyer is getting paid to send a copyright infringement letter to Apple, who will then in turn remove this app. This app will be removed in 3...2...
