It’s something San Francisco residents have enjoyed for a while — real time tracking of public transit — and it’s finally coming to the big Apple. The new app MTA Subway Time will give subway riders exact information about where the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and S lines are.

The app covers 156 stations, and relays the same information as you’ll see on the countdown clocks on the station platforms. Unfortunately, it sounds like the rollout for the other lines could be years, and millions of dollars, away.

Unfortunately, MTA Subway Time has some pretty horrible reviews on the App Store — apparently it’s slow and horribly designed. Hopefully, the MTA will go through with its plans to release the data publically, allowing developers to take that information and craft something a bit prettier with it.
