This morning we heard a report from iMore that the new iPhone and iPad Mini would be announced on September 12th and the iPhone would launch on the 21st. Now, another website has come out with a similar set of rumors which agree with a fair amount of that timeline, but also reveals a lot more about other products.
iLounge has done a large amount of legwork, and used its large network of industrial sources to put together a lot of information. It claims the new iPhone will be announced mid-September, and launching in the third week (though that might get pushed back to October). That seems to be in line with the iMore report.
As for other news? iLounge claims Apple is working on at least two case designs for the iPhone, one of which is similar to the Bumper. They also believe Apple will announce a new iPod Touch at the same event, but there’s no real information on a new iPod Nano.
Finally, on the iPad front, iLounge believes that the iPad Mini won’t ship at the same time as the new iPhone, but that it might get announced at that point. Alternatively, there might be a special iPad event, with the iPad Mini and a fourth-generation iPad with minor redesigns and a new dock connector, late in 2012.
