Motorola Wins Legal Battle In Germany, Pulls Apple Products From Shelves [UPDATED]

The legal battles between Apple and other companies have sprawled across the globe, with many a victory going to all parties. The most recent salvo hit in Germany, where Motorola has won a major victory, pulling everything except the iPhone 4S  and Wi-Fi only iPads from the shelves. A permanent injunction against the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPad 2 Wi-Fi/3G has been issued.

This move comes from a patent of Motorola’s about a push email notifications being sent from the cloud. So far this is only hitting Apple’s online store, with local branches in Germany still stocking the products — but it remains to be seen if they get more in once the current crop sells out.

Motorola is now in the process of chasing after the iPhone 4S, but hopefully before that happens, the two parties will reach an amenable agreement.

UPDATE: According to SlashGear, Apple has already been granted a suspension on this ruling, and the devices will be back on sale online shortly. Why? “Apple appealed this ruling because Motorola repeatedly refuses to license this patent to Apple on reasonable terms, despite having declared it an industry standard patent seven years ago.”
