The popular MLB At Bat series is now live in the App Store. As we reported, MLB At Bat 12’ will be offered for free with an accompanying subscription. Unlike in previous years, there are no longer separate apps for both iPhone and iPad. The new universal app starts with ‘Lite’ access. This is limited to providing you with scores and news. Additional subscription levels are available to expand the capabilities of MLB At Bat 12’.

If you opt for the basic subscription, priced at $14.99 for the season or $2.99 monthly, you receive expanded features that include:

  • Gameday: Pitch tracking, box scores and more.
  • Audio: Listen to any game home or away
  • In-Game Highlights: Top plays from around the league
  • Live Game of the Day: Teaser of MLB.TV featuring one free game. Blackout rules apply
  • Stats: Track league leaders

To watch all the games, not including local blackouts, the app requires an MLB.TV subscription. These are priced at $124.99 for the entire season. If you subscribed last year, then you retain your renewal rate of $119.99. This also provides you with all the features from the basic subscription.

For existing subscribers or those considering a MLB.TV subscription, you no longer have to pay for two additional apps. This represents a fair amount of savings. It does appear as if the ‘Lite’ versions have gotten lighter, by pushing Gameday to a paid option. One thing is for certain, this is high quality app that will please any ardent baseball fan.
