Lodsys Tackles Big Companies, Apple Steps In

troll 2 Lodsys Tackles Big Companies, Apple Steps In

More developments in the ongoing drama with patent trolls Lodsys. They’re now suing some huge name companies: Samsung, Hewlett-Packard, Brother, Motorola, Sam’s Club, Best Western, Black & Decker, the Container Store, the Teaching Company, Vitamin Shoppe, Vegas.com, Adidas, CVS, and Best Buy. If anyone thought they honestly weren’t patent trolls, I assume they’ve now been disabused of that notion.

Meanwhile, Apple has moved to intervene on the behalf of some small developers.

More and more it’s looking like Lodsys bit off more than they can chew. I can see the logic in going after indie devs because they can’t defend themselves — as scummy of a move as it was — but targeting multinational corporations? Blood bath.
