Lightning Connector Cracked With New Dock

Well, that didn’t take long. Here’s a Lightning Connector enabled dock that appears to have found a way around Apple’s new proprietary Lightning connection. Created by iPhone5Mod, if the video below is accurate, it handles all the functionality of the first party version.

For $39.90, you get the Flash Lightning Dock and a third party Lightning cable — and the video is the first evidence we’ve seen of a third-party version of the cable actually transferring both charge and data.

Not only that, but the Flash Lightning Dock has lights strewn all along the cable, which react to the flow of charge into your iPhone 5. Low charge, the lights move quickly, gradually slowing down as your iPhone recharges, before finally stopping.

While perhaps a touch on the garish side, $40 for a cable and dock is pretty good considering what Apple is charging for just the cable.
