Ever since Apple bought out music streamer Lala, we’ve been waiting for streaming iTunes to come about — after all it makes sense that an online music streaming company would be bought for just that. However, months of silence have done nothing except stoke the fires of rumor. Now we’re hearing that Lala might skip streaming music with iTunes, and instead switch straight to streaming video.
CNet’s sources imply that Apple was very interested in a video streaming service Lala was working on just before acquisition, and this may be linked to Apple constructing a large server farm in North Carolina.
This is all still supposition and rumor, and until we get better evidence than an unnamed source, I wouldn’t put much weight in this assumption.
