Amazon has updated the Kindle app for iOS to version 3.5, and with the new version comes what was a major feature on the Kindle devices. Previously only available on physical Kindles from Amazon was the X-Ray feature, which allows you to track characters and themes in books to help you keep track of them. And that feature has now been added to the iOS app.
Unfortunately, it won’t work with every book, individual titles need to have the X-Ray functionality enabled. As you can tell from the example image they provided, it’s especially a good idea for books that have large numbers of characters and locations — like the Game of Thrones titles.
Here’s what’s officially new:
• X-Ray for Books – see the “bones of the book”. X-ray helps you learn more about notable characters, places, and phrases with descriptions from Shelfari.com and Wikipedia.
• Manga Image Rendering Improvements
