According to the Telegraph, Steve Jobs was up for an honourary knighthood in 2009 (the only way a non-British person can get one) for his contribution to technology. However, it appears then-PM Gordon Brown blocked the move, even though Bill Gates scored one in 2005 (leading to the unutterably awkward photo seen above.) What happened? If the report is to be believed, Jobs was originally invited to speak at a Labour Party conference, which he declined, and so Brown blocked the process of Jobs getting knighted.
If this had happened, would we be seeing knight, instead of ninja, action figures of Jobs?
