Japanese Carrier Softbank Giving Away iPad With Two-Year Contract

overview safari20101116 Japanese Carrier Softbank Giving Away iPad With Two Year ContractAccording to MocoNews, Japanese mobile carrier Softbank will give you a 16Gb 3G iPad if you sign up for a 25 month contract for ¥4725 ($56) per month. While $56 per month sounds pretty pricey, we don’t know how much data is included with that, and given Japan’s notoriously high-speed and high-bandwidth mobile connections, it’s doubtless unlimited, which doesn’t sound too bad compared to $25 per month for 2GB from AT&T.

Other carriers to subsidize the device include Orange, T-Mobile and Three in the UK, and Orange France. No America carriers are subsidizing it yet, though that might change as carriers struggle to keep hold of customers as the iPad is being sold more and more places.
