evasi0n7 iOS 7 Jailbreak Released

iOS 7 jailbreak

In what comes as a bit of a suprise, the evad3rs development team has released an iOS 7 jailbreak. The evasi0n jailbreak was just announced and is available on their website for download, for both Mac and PC. This represents the first actual jailbreak for iOS 7 and it is compatible with iOS 7.0 through iOS 7.0x. Evad3rs have been at the forefront of jailbreaking, having been the team behind the last iOS 6 jailbreak. The prevailing thought was that the team had been holding onto an exploit for iOS 7. In recent weeks, the lack of an iOS 7 jailbreak had led to some doubts that it would ever happen. The development team had been relatively quiet, with no specific roadmap as to when we could expect a release. Apple has already released … [Read more...]

Chat Heads on iOS

If you’ve used the new Facebook app, you might have found yourself bumping into those quirky Chat Heads, the new circular messenger icons that stick to the sides of your screen. Hackulous Pirate App Community Shuts Down, Takes Installous, Apptrackr With It

The popular piracy-based iOS community Hackulous has shuts its doors, taking down one of the major locations for pirating paid apps. In a note on the website, the team posted a short message saying: Goodnight, sweet prince. We are very sad to announce that Hackulous is shutting down. After many years, our community has become stagnant and our forums are a bit of a ghost town. It has become difficult to keep them online and well-moderated, despite the devotion of our staff. We're incredibly thankful for the support we've had over the years and hope that new, greater communities blossom out of our absence. With lots of love, Hackulous Team … [Read more...]

iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak FAQ

iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak

In advance of the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak, the developers have released a short FAQ that details what we can expect. All info below is tentative and subject to last minute refinements @pod2g's 5.1.1 jailbreak+untether is working out great.  All devices are covered except for AppleTV3,1, which currently has no path for jailbreaking.  the initial 5.1.1 plan used a kernel exploit from @westbaer which unfortunately precluded use in iPod3,1 and iPhone2,1  @planetbeing stepped up and provided a kernel exploit that covers both of those.  Those two JBers are the bomb! The 5.1.1 A5 JB is very similar to the A5 5.0.1 JB.  @pimskeks has done a tremendous job supporting both 5.0.1 and 5.1.1 in absinthe Similar to 5.0.1, there … [Read more...]

Apple censors the word jailbreak in iTunes Store

In what can only be described as bizarre, it was noticed today by iOS dev @planetbeing (and even earlier by @alexheath, et all), that Apple had begun censoring the term ‘Jailbreak’ in the iTunes Store. This extends beyond just the App Store to music and books. Thin Lizzy’s classic song is now listed as J*******k. We can only presume that Apple’s war on jailbreaking has resulted in their filtering of content within iTunes. This is just crazy. What’s next? If I have Thin Lizzy on my iPhone, will I be denied service at the Genius Bar. Clearly I jest, but exactly what’s accomplished with this filter? Apple has made it clear they don’t want any part of jailbreak content in the App Store, declining apps that present any content that is … [Read more...]

Developer Provides Update On iOS 5.1.x Untethered Jailbreak

It's been quite a while since we saw developers find exploits shortly after the release of the new iPad. This led many to believe that perhaps a release of the iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak would be imminent. This wasn't the case, despite the developers finding a number of potential exploits. Should they expose the exploits now or hold them for iOS 6? When polled, the results were a unimanous 64% in favor of the release. The developers have since been working on a public release and have released an FAQ to provide more insight as to where they with this latest jailbreak. The poll about releasing now or waiting for 6.0 ended with a 64% / 33% to release ASAP. Where is the link ? ETA ? How much % done ? etc.As I said earlier in twitter, … [Read more...]
