iTunes Song Samples May Now Reach 60 Seconds

Gone in sixty seconds 1974 movie poster iTunes Song Samples May Now Reach 60 Seconds

CNet is reporting that song samples on iTunes may soon double in length, hitting sixty seconds. Under the current scheme, if you want to listen to a song before you buy it, the preview will give you 30 seconds of music. According to multiple sources who are chummy with CNet, Apple is planning to extend the sample time substantially, which could be used to differentiate iTunes from other digital resellers, such as Amazon.com.

CNet also says not to expect cloud based iTunes, ans Apple hasn’t gathered all the required licenses for streaming music. You would think those would have come part and parcel of their purchase of Lala.

If you are JB you can use full preview to listen to the entire song. Nice little tweak which I’ve been using for quite some time. One minute will be very nice as you’ll get a much better sample of the song to decide if you wish to purchase it.
