The eternal patent battles continue, and two recent blows have been dealt against Apple. As reported by AppleInsider, the ITC has decided to investigate Samsung’s claims that Apple violated many of Samsung’s patents with the iPhone, iPad and iPod. While not a huge victory, it does mean that the case wasn’t quickly thrown out and has some degree of merit.

Meanwhile, the ITC has ruled that Mac OS X violates a number of patents held by S3 Graphics Co — but iOS does not.

Mac computers have an operating system that infringes two S3 patents related to graphics chips, U.S. International Trade Commission Judge James Gildea said.

This month saw S3 bought out by HTC, a move which will doubtless further the legal woes between them and Apple.
