We’re in the final countdown to WWDC, just scant hours away from Jobs’ keynote, when this rumor popped up. According to sources at Engadget, Apple will announce the “Magic Trackbad”. This bluetooth device will pair with a desktop or laptop, and bring touch, multitouch, and handwriting recognition to any computer.
Without a stylus, this isn’t meant to attack Wacom in any particular way. It really does seem that this is designed to bring all the multitouch moves we’re so used to to Mac Desktop units. Will it have enough functionality to be used in the place of a mouse? Would you want to? In just a couple of hours, we’ll know a lot more (or nothing at all).
