The iPod Touch serves as a nefarious device, allowing Apple to get people hooked into the OS and lifestyle before they’re quite ready for an iPhone. Well, more or less anyway, according to a report from analysts Flurry. They think that Apple is using the Touch to get in to the preteen and teenage market, so that when they can get a smartphone, they’ll already be invested in the Apple way of life. They’ll already have iTunes, contacts, apps and be used to the way the whole system works. In fact, this demonstrates a rather impressive sleight of hand from Apple. While everyone is intently staring at the iPhone, and wondering what the “iPhone killer” will be, Cupertino is quietly building up its supporters among a younger demographic.
