Apple’s store in Beijing has temporarily shut down due to scalpers buying up iPhone 4s, and selling them on the streets nearby. According to MICGadgets, the store removed the two unit per customer sales limit, which caused scalpers to rush the store, buying 20 or 30 units to sell on the grey market.
Legit customers and scalpers were apparently fighting in store to get through lines to get the phones.
The scalpers would then sell the phones at a premium to individuals who don’t want to deal with the lines. Eventually security closed the store, and now Apple is limiting each individual to only one phone, which must be activated in-store.
