500x comp2 1 iPhone Prototype Apparently Very Close To Final Build

John Gruber, who is still very, very unhappy about Gizmodo’s handling of the iPhone prototype, contacted his Apple contacts about the iPhone, and thinks it’s a just about final model. On the unit was the barcode “N90_DVT_GE4X_0493”. N90 is the product code for the new iPhone, and DVT means “design verification test”, one of the final milestones in product design for Apple. Gruber says:

The DVT milestone is very late in the game; based on this, I now believe that this unit very closely, if not exactly, resembles what Apple plans to release.

So when Apple officially unveils the new iPhone, it will probably look just like the leaked model.

I’m pretty happy about that. I really like this design.
