MS Internet Explorer 7.0
If the iPhone had the capability, it would have been available right away. Bottom line, It's not just a simple software upgrade, hardware (very small and complex) wold have to be removed and replaced...this is te hguts of teh iPhone, not likely! The ability to support 3G is simply an urban legend!

Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3
If you look at the chipset that Apple is using, it appears the chipset is indeed 3G capable, it's just not implemented. The whole spiel about power consumption and size is BS. The Samsung blackjack is a 3G phone and is incredibly small.

MS Internet Explorer 6.0
I have read in several articles that the iPhone does NOT have the capability for 3G, simply because they could not fit the necessary chip into the current design of the phone. That does not mean that the second gen phone won't have the ability, just that it's not going to be one with the first gen.
