Other task managers either oversimplify or are too difficult to sue. Either way you are not getting stuff done. Things instead has the right balance between ease of use and powerful features.

  • Add to-dos, notes, due dates, and projects
  • Schedule taks you want to start later
  • See what's coming up and create your agenda for today

With the new also come the new features:

  • Wirelessly sync up to the desktop application via WiFi.

  • Improved input, fewer taps required.

  • App icon badge which shows the number of "Things" you have to do "Today".

  • Improved customization

With this update I really like the app icon badge the best (which to set this up go into Settings>Things, then Yes. I still wish I can create my own categories for my classes and personal "Things" to do.

I bought this app several days ago. I tried all of the free to-do apps, and they did not do enough for me. So I sprung for Things since it seemed to be more than a simple to-do app, but not overly complex like some of the other apps you pay for. You can add a project or a simple to do. You can put a to-do in your inbox as soon as you think of it. Then you can go back and give it a due date and a date that it will show up in your "today" box. There is a box for "someday"-things that you want to do, but do not have a specific date for. One of mine in the someday bos is "replace family room carpet."

When you create a project, you can create to-do's that fall under that project, and each to-do can have it's own due date also. I also used the project box to create a list of items that my kids need for school, using the grade level for the project name and each item they need as a single to-do. This is very flexible so that you can create lists and to-do's although it is made to be a to-do app.

This app does not sync with your desktop, but I find it better to carry my to-do list in one place. You can email each item, and you can move the to-do from box to box for organization. You cannot email a whole project, which may be nice if you wanted to share all the to-do's for a certain project with a friend or co-worker. I think I will use this app until Apple lets the developers sync with the Calendar app!

Before I had a to do list I would just email myself whatever I had to get done. Things is very simple to use and not overkill. Things allows you to have different types of to-dos that can be have due dates, notes and alarms. Can set a to-do to start on a particular date, a to-do to be done one after another, or just today's to-do. One nice feature that would be awesome to have in the future would be a message blip on the homescreen to let you know how many to-dos you have to do that particular day.
