This a great program that allows me to sync my iPhone, home desktop and work desktop computers with note, pdf's and audio. It will be even better when I can edit the notes.

I've been using Evernote v2 for several years, since Walt Mossberg (WSJ) gave it a rave review 'way back. Version 3 is more than just more of the same. The original was for note taking, both text and pen-based. It kept all notes in one database that was organized as a "tape", chronologically arranged. So you could scroll to a date to see the note, search for it, or use assigned tags to find it quickly. It had a built-in outliner, rich text formatting and could email and print notes.

Version 3 does all of the same, plus web clippings, voice notes, graphics, photos. But it also keeps the master copy on its servers, accessed through a secure connection. So you can now have multiple devices that all see, create and edit the same notes. Any note I enter on an iPhone, WinMob, Windows or Mac will be instantly available on all of the other clients I have registered as well as via a web interface. Further, you can create notebooks that can be shared, so a team (or family) can instantly share notes. Can it get better?

Yes; it currently lacks the ability to edit a note on the iPhone. you can create one, but not edit it once saved. This is to be fixed in a future release.

It's free, and includes 50 MB/month of storage. You can increase this to 500 MB for about $40/year.

Evernote is a killer app.

First off, you should know that Evernote is not only for iPhone. It also offers a web-based service, and a desktop application for Mac and PC.

Evernote on iPhone allows you to take notes in four four forms: Text Note, Snapshot Note, Saved Photo Note, and Audio Note. Once you have composed a note, it is synced with your Evernote account, and the note will immediately appear in your online account and on your Mac or PC. You can also use a very nice feature to search for text not only in your Text Notes, but in your Photo Notes as well. Once a photo has been synced with Evernote's servers, text inside photos can be recognized.

The app is very simple and straightforward. Once you have logged in, you see four tabs at the bottom of the screen; New Note, Notes, Pending, and Account. Using only these four tabs, you can organized, and easily.

There are, as always, a few downsides. First, the text recognition feature doesn't always work. For instance, when I took a picture of the word "iPhone" on my iPhone, the text was not recognized when I typed "iPhone," but it was when I searched for "ob." Also, if you make a note with a photo that was taken in landscape mode on the iPhone, that photo will then appear upside down everywhere.

Despite the above mentioned problems - which can easily be fixed via updates - Evernote is a great and productive application. In fact, it has replaced the stock Notes app on my iPhone.
