When I first saw this one, I thought that as it was a free clone of another well known game, it wouldn't be all that great. But it turns out that Tris is highly playable, beautiful, and very addicting.

The objective is simple, the same as that of Tetris; arrange the falling blocks into a pattern to get as many on the screen as possible before the reach the top. The blocks come in many different arrangements and colors, making it easy to identify one form another. The can also be rotated by tapping the sides, making it easier to slide them in between other blocks.

Once the blocks have reached the top of the screen, you are presented with your score. Then, you are taken to a screen showing you all of your top local scores (ones make on your device) and one showing top global scores (ones made by everybody). The top scores for global users are insanely high, raising into the ten thousands. I can't manage to get above 2000, but you do get better at it as you play and begin to grasp the skill.

I am a huge Tetris fan as well. I was geeked when I found this alternative - and it's free! Although I've read on a few sites it will be pulled by 8/27 because of copy right infringements so download now!

It plays and looks well on the iPhone. Then again I haven't found many games that don't. You can keep your last 10 scores and even see how you rank globally - although this part did seem to have a small lag when bringing it up.

First of all, let me say I love, love Tetris. A big fan. Yet, I had not played it a long time. That said. When I found Tris to be available, and for FREE! I could not resist.

Game play is just as one would expect of the game. Good use of the touch screen. But I must say that using the touch screen to control games, any games, does not come without a few issues. Namely, that your finger pretty much blocks your view of the game, no matter how temporary it may be, it can be distracting. Hence, my mention in the review title of need for a track pad. What I mean by that is there should be a little square off to the side, off of the playing field, where one could run their finger to move the pieces or tap to rotate orientation.

But, it's not deal killer. Heck, for free, what could be? It's just that I felt hurried with my finger swipes to avoid blocking my view of the game. In doing so, I inadvertently would force bad moves! Ugh!

Another issue, is the lack of sound. It would have been awesome to resurrect some of that original Russian background music the original Tetris offered. Would totally add to the retro feel. Maybe down the line?

But, all in all, for free, it's a must have. I commend Noah for the great work. And, what the heck! Add in sound effects and music, and I'd pop for a buck! :D

Thanks!
