The best movie app available, Monday, 25 August 2008

Now that BoxOffice, now known as "Now Playing" is back up on the AppStore, it's become my favorite app for keeping track of movies. The amount of features it has, along with simple, easily navigable interface, makes it a great app.

You can either manually enter your Zip Code, or have Now Playing use Location Services or GPS to locate you. You can then specify the radius (in miles) in which you want theaters to show up. You can also select where to receive movie rating from.

The about pages for movies provide lots of information. You can read reviews, see the movie's poster, read the Plot Summary, watch the movie trailer, view showing times, and even buy tickets for it.

If you want to go see a move but you're not sure what to go to, or you need more info on a movie, Now playing is the app to have.

Very easy to use and the Rotten Tomato tomatometer is also very useful. As the other reviewer said, it would be better at least to have a link straight to rottentomato.com to read the full reviews.

The only reason I have Movies.app is because it can find showtimes up to 2 days in advance and there are links to imdb.com and I can watch the trailer.

This was the first movie app that i installed on my iphone, and it worked good, installed good and such, but the main purpose of this app for me, was to see movie times. This is where some problems arose. It prompts you for your area code, which sometimes, i dont know, since i travel a lot. and second, the interface is a little confusing to use. however, with a lot of other information about the movie, it does come in handy, such as trailers, box office information, ratings from rotten tomato and some other things.

However, if your looking for an application that is just going to find your location, and then show you local movie times, i would recommend the app called "showtimes". it does a good job of quickly giving you movie times in your area.

If your a movie buff, you should get this app, but if your just looking for something to show you local show information, there are better choices out there =]

Nice App, Saturday, 19 July 2008

The biggest (and at the same time the silliest) reason I was jealous of my mac-owning friends was the dashboard widget that found where and what time movies were playing. I couldn't seem to find a windows solution that mimicked it closely enough. Now with my shiny new iPhone, I have BoxOffice! This smooth little app easily locates local theaters, organizes movies by rotten tomato ratings, and washes dishes.
My only wish is that there was a more integrated rottentomatoes.com functionality that allowed for reading what the critics had to say. I've partnered up with a webapp which essentially does the same thing, but if I didnt need to switch apps it'd be better, right? That way I wouldnt waste the precious calories tapping the home button to alternate betwixt them...
