It’s no surprise that the iPhone 5 is wildly popular on Verizon, as it is wildly popular in general. Verizon released sales numbers of 9.8 million smartphone activations over the holidays. Though they did not release iPhone specific sales numbers, based on their 2011 4th quarter sales of 4.2 million iPhones out of 7.7 total smartphones, we can estimate that around 5.3 million iPhones were sold out of the 9.8 million reported smartphones sold this time around.
A statement from Verizon regarding their sales numbers makes this estimation even more likely as they announced a,
“higher mix of Apple smarthphones.”
While AT&T has not yet released their sales numbers, we can assume they are higher based on the fact that they were the sole carrier of the iPhone for years,
