MacRumors have been informed by their sources that the newest addition to the iPhone family will have 512MB of RAM, double that of the iPhone 3GS and iPad, and four times the iPhone 2G and 3G. This was apparently confirmed by Apple at WWDC during the “Advanced Performance Optimization on iPhone OS, pt 2″ session. This is unusual, as the company is usually extremely cagey about specific details such as this.
This is a significant boost, putting it beyond any other iOS device on the market, and should help it crunch through iPhone 4 specific apps like iMovie, and hopefully be able to pull off all the new tricks iOS 4 will offer without any lagging.
awesome that’s why apple are who they are = The best!!
OMG… FINALLY… I have been trying to find out this little bit of information since the announcement about iPhone 4 was made. This is really great news. I have the 3G with 128k if internal memory. The phone ALWAYS bogs down due to the low memory. Now with 512 I am sure games are gonna be awesome on this thing.
