We’ve seen numerous photos of supposed parts for the upcoming iPad 3. Many have been used to speculate a larger battery and presumably a high resolution display. MacRumors have managed to obtain an iPad 3 display, which they’ve put under a microscope in an effort to determine the resolution. The display looks no different than the 9.7-inch iPad 1 or iPad 2.

Their findings upon looking at the iPad 3 display under a microscope reveal some interesting findings. The pixels on the iPad 3 display are one quarter the size of those on an iPad 2. They’ve use those pixel findings to determine the resolution of 2048×1536, which is twice that of the previous generation iPads.
The iPad 3 is rumored to be announced on March 7th. In addition to the retina display, it’s rumored to have a quad-core A6 processor and possible support for 4G LTE. Parts previously leaked also point to a larger battery.
