According to an inventory screenshot taken from a Best Buy (via TUAW), they expect to have an in-stock day of March 11th for iPad 3 accessories. These include ZAGG InvisibleShield screen protectors for the iPad 3. This might not necessarily translate to a release date for the iPad 3, but rather accessory manufacturers looking to get a jump start on iPad 3 accessory sales.
Any iPad 3 screen protector would likely differ from what Zagg currently offers, but it’s certainly plausible that they will be able to push out products compatible with the new iPad, once Apple provides specifications on March 7th. March 11th is a Sunday. Apple’s history tells us that it’s highly unlikely that we’d see a release of the iPad 3 on that Sunday. That leaves the insanely small window of March 9th, just two days after the announcement or March 16th. No one knows the actual date. If I had to venture a guess, March 16th sounds plausible.
