For all the constantly looming threat of Android “beating” iOS, it seems that Apple’s ecosystem is doing pretty well — especially when it comes to online use. According to Net Market Share, June saw iOS achieve its highest ever share of mobile internet use, taking 65.27% of the market — with Android sitting at 19.73%. This is also Android’s best number to date, but its growth line seems much shallower than the iOS one.
As always with analyses like this there are always major sampling considerations to be aware of. NMS basis this on its 40,000 client sites, and weighs the results based on population. A raw comparison by another company puts the two on pretty much equal footing — with Nokia’s mid-range Series 40 dumbphone OS climbing of late.
