All you developer types, perk up — the iOS 4.1 and SDK betas have now been released into your grubby paws. There are no obviously and loudly announced changes, so we don’t know if this has the revamped reception bars, fix proximity sensor calibration, Bluetooth improvements, or just a million and one tiny bug fixes — but we’ll let you know as soon as you find out.
If you’re a developer, and have found something cool or new in the SDK beta, contact us and let us know, either in the comments below, or through our Tip Line.

UPDATE: The iOS 4.1 beta seems to have the reception bar fix, described by Apple thusly:
To fix this, we are adopting AT&T’s recently recommended formula for calculating how many bars to display for a given signal strength. The real signal strength remains the same, but the iPhone’s bars will report it far more accurately, providing users a much better indication of the reception they will get in a given area. We are also making bars 1, 2 and 3 a bit taller so they will be easier to see.

Haha! I beat you to it Tim.
My girl friend and I both bought iPhone 4′s and they work great but at least once a day we will be talking and all of a sudden she can’t hear me but I can hear her, in areas with good reception. With both phones locked so there is no chance it’s either of us. Anyone else have this happen? I use the phone as more of a toy that’s a phone but it does get annoying when it happens every day.
Wow I never heard of that problem, I would say try to go to settings and reset the phone to default settings. If that doesn’t work return it for a new one. I can’t wait to see what this new IOS will do. One thing I hope for is allowing us to send our iMovie creations through email. You can send them through MMS but not through an email and that is just plain old ridiculous.
