That’s the iPad, and at $2.2 billion in revenue, it’s already beyond the iPod, and the combined power of iTunes, Software and Peripherals combined. Apple’s Mac division pulled in $4.4 billion, so the iPad is already half as big as the long lived desktop and laptop division.
While Apple seems convinced that the iPad won’t cannibalize Mac sales, numbers like this can be disheartening to long-term Macheads, as it’s easy to see how iOS could draw development time and effort away from the Macs, which seem to have been left behind in all the iPad and iPhone excitement.
