AppAdvice, who revealed the bestseller prices on iBookstore yesterday, are now reporting that iBookstore might be stocking the entire Gutenberg Project collection — some 30,000 books. Project Gutenberg is an online project to digitize public domain written works, and is the source of many of the cheap ebooks in the iPhone app store. Alexander Vaughn of AppAdvice says:
Well, when checking out Apple’s iBookstore, I noticed that Apple has decided to include [the Project Gutenberg books] directly. I obviously haven’t had the chance to count them, but it appears that the entire catalog is available for free download.
We already knew that the iPad would happily read ePub versions downloaded from Gutenberg, but integrating them into iBookstore? That’s pretty cool.
