Google continues its drive link everything back to Google+, and the most recent casualty is Google Places, or as it’s now officially called: Google+ Local. In addition to a name change, Google+ Local now also shows Zagat ratings for restaurants, allows for voice searches, and has an overhauled UI. Full breakdown after the jump:
Google Places is now Google+ Local! Everything you loved about Google Places and more.
With Google+ Local you can see reviews from your friends, decide where to go with Zagat’s summaries of places and review your favorite places.
In addition to this, we’ve added:
* Ability to search via Voice Search. Simply tap the microphone and speak your query
* Improved UI for searching for places that aren’t nearby.
* Switched to using OAuth2 login for improved security
* And of course bug fixes…
Google already made this name change for Android in May, and this brings the iOS version in line.
