Google’s innovative turn-by-turn GPS program might just be coming to the iPhone, if Apple will let it. Navigation is a free GPS program that has wowed users, has a huge number of features, and currently only for Android OS 2.0. Gizmodo has a good run down of what it can do here.
CNet is reporting that Google is trying to get the program onto the iPhone, if Apple will approve it. If it gets through, its better than any other free GPS app in the app store, and probably some of the paid ones. Of course, given the trouble Google had getting Voice, its other fantastic free program onto the iPhone, which led to FCC involvement, who knows what will happen. We’re really hoping this one comes through as it sounds like a killer app.

One word that killed it for apple. “Free”. That’s not in apples vocabulary. what a lose. looks like a promising gps app.
how the hell could the fcc get involved in this?
