Google Maps 1.1 Released, Now Allows You To Search Google Contacts

Google today released version 1.1 of their excellent Google Maps application for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The update brings with it support for searching your contacts within Google, providing you with an easy way to navigate to your friends and family. Category searching is also improved, offering the ability to search locally based upon a particular category.

  • Search your Google Contacts; sign in to have your saved addresses show up when you search for friends and family by name.
  • Quickly search for local places by selecting popular categories such as restaurants, bars, cafes, gas stations, etc.
  • Choose between Kilometers or Miles for your preferred distance units.
  • Note that some features may not be available in all countries.

This is a free update available for download in the App Store.

    I was wondering when they would allow this. I hated having to type them in each and every time.

  2. Nice updates but would like more routing options such additional route avoidance (avoid ferries, etc). Also would like fastest, shortest, quickest, optimized, etc.
