Gmail iOS App Gets Minor Update, Picture Saving

The standalone Gmail app for iOS has just been upgraded to version 1.3, with a couple of minor tweaks. The app is still the same mediocre frontend for the service — there’s no sign of Sparrow-lead improvements yet, but hopefully Google will put out some bigger improvements in the near future. Here’s what’s new:

- Smoother animation and scrolling on iPhone and iPod touch.
- Save picture attachments to your photo library. Touch and hold an image to save it.
- Bug Fixes

So, smoother animations and image saving to your photo library. Got it. It still doesn’t sound like enough to make me use what by all accounts is a relatively mediocre mail application.
