Apple has returned to the iOS App Store a feature that was quietly stripped with iOS 6 — the ability to give apps as gifts. While not hugely missed by most, the ability to send a gift code for an app was stuck with just the iTunes version of the App Store. However, now the option has returned. but it’s in a very different place.
To addition was spotted by 9to5Mac, and is tucked away in the sharing menu, alongside sending links to the app over SMS, Twitter, and Facebook. Now there’s an extra option to gift the app to, and have it delivered either immediately, or over the next 90 days.
What does seem to be a bit weird is that you can’t gift someone an app that you already own — which makes it hard to send someone you like something that you know is good.
