Foxconn Gearing Up For iTV?

Ready for your unsubstantiated rumor of the day? China Daily has been talking to Terry Gou, chief of Foxconn, and apparently the plant is gearing up for the Apple Television/iTV/AppleHDTV/whatever-we’re-calling-this-thing. According to the report:

Gou said Foxconn is making preparations for iTV, Apple Inc’s rumored upcoming high-definition television, although development or manufacturing has yet to begin.
iTV reportedly features an aluminum construction, Siri, and FaceTime video calling
Foxconn’s recent 50-50 joint venture factory with Sharp in Japan is one of the preparations made for the new device, Gou added.

Call me a cynic, but that doesn’t sound like the sort of thing a high-level executive should be blurting out, especially given Apple’s notorious secrecy measures. I remain skeptical without heavier evidence than this.

  1. Please stop calling it iTV. The TV channel ITV in England would and have already threatened legal action if that name is used. Just let the dream go

I know right, it’s starting to piss me off seeing it recycled over and over on every blog but then these blogs never seem to write their own stuff, just copy and paste.
