I consider myself to have a pretty good understanding of most things gadgety, but I’ll freely cop to not really having an inkling about the inner workings of my iPhone. It runs of pixie dust and unicorn horns as far as I can tell. Which is why it’s great that people like Bill Hammack can explain how some of this works — like this excellent explanation of how accelerometers work.At its most fundamental level, the accelerometer isn’t too hard to understand, and Hammack does an excellent job of explaining it so that anyone can get what’s going on inside — and how they’re built.
