Default Windows 7 64-bit and my iPhone 3g

Ok this sucks...I try to connect my iPhone 3g into my newly installed itunes on my newly installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit operating system...I did double check the iTunes 64-bit was downloaded.

So I plug my iPhone 3g in and my iTunes freezes up for a min or two and then continues working...but my iphone doesn't pop up. The computer reads the iphone as plugged in, but not iTunes.

The first time I connected my iPhone 3g, it took iTunes about 15 minutes to recognize it, but now it won't recognize didly...

NOT to mention the first connect/sync removed all my apps and music and won't give it back!!!!!!!

HELP!!!! Thank you in advance.

Oh there's your problem: you're running Windows.
But seriously it sounds like a driver issue. Try removing the iphone driver and see if WinDoze will grab the right one next time you plug it in.

I used to have a mac...but I decided to go back to pc. I'm more comfortable with pc's.

I uninstalled bonjour, apple mobile device software, and iTunes.

When I reinstalled everything went back to normal...so far.

With vista it worked great never an issue. Thanks for the reply.

Well there's always the possibility that iTunes doesn't support windows 7 yet. Since this is a fresh install, are you sure you put all your music and apps in the correct folder? The fact that they were deleted from the phone makes me think no.

iTunes works just fine with W7 64bit. I've been running the 7100 build for months and have never had an issue. Same with the retail version. Might have just been a bad install. Glad you have it working.

I'll just echo what cliffeman said. Win7 64-bit Ultimate (which I'm running) and iTunes play extremely nicely. At any rate, I'm glad you've sorted it out. Could have been a bad install or the wrong install.

Same here. Just installed iTunes 64-bit and let it upgrade to the newest version and sync my 3G no problem. Kept all my stuff I had on iTunes before I upgraded to Win7 Ultimate 64-bit from Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

That might have been your problem right there. Upgrading can sometimes cause the new OS to do weird things. That's why I always recommend a clean install. Much like restoring your phone from a back up instead of setting it up as a new phone.
