Transferring Contacts from iPhone to iTunes

Hi,

Here's the situation. Previously I had iTunes installed on one PC, synched and everything..no problems. Then I switched over to a new computer, installed iTunes and wanted to synch. I can't fully recall but I think it gave me the option of synching contacts and 'merging' but I did not go for it and as I thought, all my contacts disappeared.

Now, I want to sync the contacts again but don't want to take the risk of losing them again. If I open iTunes, info and sync contacts with Windows Address Book, will it copy contacts from iPhone to iTunes or I'll have my phone without any contacts again?

I see there is an option at the bottom of 'info' tab which says 'replace information on this iphone'. Contacts is unchecked. Not sure if I can just sync it or have to do something else.
